My past life experience from my life’s past

Charles Darwin proposed the theory of evolutio...

I need to stop with these excruciatingly terrible titles.

Almost a year ago, when I still identified as a Christian, I underwent a past life regression experiment with my sister and my brother-in-law. At the time, I wasn’t sure if I believed in the idea of past lives, but I decided to give the experience a try and see what happened.

What did happen was, as I was just explaining to my friend, “trippy.” I remember the feelings of wanting to fly but being unable to, and, most curious of all, I remember feeling as though I had a deep connection to Charles Darwin. (I had recently watched the movie Creation, which is about the life of Charles Darwin and which is extremely amazing.)

Of course, at this point in my life I’m assuming that most of the things that I experienced were either worries that I was having at the time or based on recent experiences of mine. I have undergone hypnosis once before, in a psychology class, and I remember having visions then, as well, but I also don’t remember much of the experience (I felt that I was sleeping for much of the time, which was apparently a half an hour). I know that this is generally how these experiences work, but it was still something interesting to go through.

And it was right- I do have an important connection to Charles Darwin. The connection of admiration.

Official presidential portrait of Barack Obama...
The Antichrist

My friend warned me the other night that people may not be as kind to me as I am to them, especially regarding belief and a lack of belief.

Last night I received two e-mails from a Facebook friend who happens to be quite conservative. The surprising thing about this is that we have never exchanged e-mails, and yet it was sent to my e-mail inbox, not my Facebook inbox, leading me to believe that she definitely wanted me to get these messages specifically. I’m assuming it is because I definitely do not hide my feelings in the links that I post on Facebook, and she thought that, perhaps, if I just heard “the truth,” then I might see the light.

The two e-mails sent to me were the old “Albert Einstein lays the smackdown on an atheist teacher story, which I feel no need to debunk, as it has been done countless times before by amazing people.

However, the other one I had never seen before. (This surprises me, as I used to edit a website for extremely “patriotic” people who were against immigration, and they forwarded me the craziest e-mails.) This one I will go ahead and copy and paste for your “enjoyment” here:

Here is one that will cause you to think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In

1952

President Truman

established one day a year as a

National Day of Prayer.”

—————————————————————————————————————————-

In

1988

President Reagan

designated the

First Thursday in May of each year as

the National Dayof Prayer.

—————————————————————————————————————————

In June

2007

(then)

Presidential

Candidate Barack Obama

declared that the USA

“Was no longer a

Christian nation.”

—————————————————————

This year

President Obama

canceled the

21st annual National Day

of Prayer ceremony

at the White

House under the ruse

Of “not wanting to offend anyone”

————————————————————————

BUT… on September 25, 2009

from 4 AM until 7 PM,

a National Day of Prayer

FOR THE MUSLIM RELIGION

was Held on Capitol Hill,

Beside the White House.

There were over 50,000 Muslims

in D.C. that day.

HE PRAYS WITH THE MUSLIMS!

I guess it Doesn’t matter

if “Christians”

Are offended by this event –

We obviously

Don’t count as

“anyone” Anymore.

The direction this country is headed

should strike fear in the heart of every Christian,

especially knowing that the

Muslim religion believes that if Christians cannot be

converted, they should be annihilated.

This is not a Rumor –

To confirm this info:

Pay particular attention to the very bottom of the page:

“OUR TIME HAS COME”

I hope that this information will stir your spirit.

The words of 2 Chronicles 7:14

“If my people, Who are called by my Name,

Will humble themselves And pray,

And seek my face, and Turn from their Wicked ways,

Then will I hear from Heaven

And will forgive their Sin and will heal Their land.”

We must pray for Our nation, our communities,

Our families, and especially our children.

They are the ones who are going to suffer the most.

.

If we don’t PRAY

May God have Mercy.

IN GOD WE TRUST.

And, just to make things easier on everybody, I’m going to go ahead and debunk it right now through quotes from the “urban legends” portion of About.com. To read the full article,go here.

  • CLAIM: In June 2007, (then) Presidential candidate Barack Obama declared that the U.S.A. was no longer a Christian nation.

STATUS: FALSE. This is based on a misquote. One sentence in the text of Barack Obama’s prepared remarks for a keynote address at the Christian Sojourners “Call to Renewal” conference on June 28, 2006 (not 2007) read as follows (emphasis added):

Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.

The statement has lent itself to frequent misquotation because Obama misspoke when he delivered it, saying (emphasis added):

Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation — at least, not just; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.

It’s clear from the context that Obama was speaking of the religious demographics of the country, not, contrary to what some people seem to believe, proclaiming an abandonment of Christian values.

  • CLAIM: This year President Obama canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the ruse of ‘not wanting to offend anyone.’

STATUS: PARTLY TRUE. Though Obama issued a National Day of Prayer proclamation on May 7, 2009 per tradition, he broke with a precedent established by the Bush administration by not holding a White House ceremony on the occasion.

However, neither the President, his press secretary, nor any other member of the administration characterized the decision as an effort “not to offend anyone.”

  • CLAIM: On September 25, 2009 from 4 am until 7 pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill.

STATUS: TRUE. It wasn’t billed as a “National Day of Prayer,” however, nor was it sponsored or promoted by the U.S. government. Described by its creators as a “day of Islamic unity” and featuring Muslim prayers and readings from the Qur’an, the all-day event was called “Islam on Capital Hill.” It was sponsored by a Washington, DC mosque.

This is the problem with e-mail forwards: people don’t fact-check before they pass them on.

If you ask me, we (atheists) should have our own e-mail forwards to send. Except we would never do that, because e-mail forwards are annoying. Oh well.
